About FEEL ME | LONDON GROUND 5

FEEL ME is a music video, a remix of a scene of my film 'Us' (feature film, 2003). Music by Flore and Shunda K, released at Botchit and Scarper - www.myspace.com/botchitandscarper

The show | club in the film and everything you see was designed and built for the film. I conceived sets, costumes, choreography, lights and every shot was prepared carefully. I also directed and edited working along with a full crew and cast. The film was shot in super 16mm.

In 2009 those images get another life in this collaboration that is also part of LONDON GROUND, a series of short films about the underground art and music scene in London now!

LONDON GROUND is a project currently in fund raising process using online platforms based on DIWO (do-it-with-others), a new way to make and support independent film making.

great story! I think the images definitely show a powerful femininity, the passion is in the urge to produce and surrender self to the production, definitely the underground scene in Britain is full of people who love to perform in this natural way, and always has been. The difference here is that the mainstream can seem so much more conservative when it tries to shock.

hi M4SK 22! sorry to reply just now, bit behind... internet has a fast pace and being on computer editing all day tires me, so then less time / energy for email, replies etc........ it's interesting what you say. it was really difficult to make those scenes in Portugal, in part because of the sexy, almost animal approach I wanted. I didn't wanted a clean dance. I wanted an arena where girls rule, they're the queens! most people didn't even want to undress. I remember to make a big casting with contemporary dancers, giving them reference images and Lydia Lunch music to work with. it was a disaster. so I got some people who were doing go-go dancing in parties and my actors had to go for it! they were just amazing - lots of hard work!!! lots of improv sessions, choreography, rehearsals, lots of fun too and very physical for them! actually when I got into London and started to go to parties and see the underground and burlesque scene I just thought how easy it would have been to find people to do it here!!!!

Hi Claudia, I understand this is a different thing, it reminded me of Fura mostly because of the performance style, I hadn't seen anything like that until I spent time in Barcelona, It is not "their" style but it is an approach that we just don't see in Britain unless performers come here. I don;t know if you see it the same way, but in Britain there are a lot of people who deny sexuality, who m ake sexless art, that is my opinion. I would love to see the whole film. Music is great too, Lydia Lunch is a big inspiration! have you met her?

hi M4SK 22! I do like Fura del Baus but this show was made and choreographed for my feature film 'Us' (2003), we also built everything you see, in a warehouse in Lisbon. All from my drawings :) set design, clothes, lights...! had a big crew for this one! lots of fun with the dancers. music by Lydia Lunch --- nevertheless Fura del Baus actually helped with a contact for us to get a fish tank which came on a truck from Barcelona for another scene of the film where performers dance in the water. please watch 'Aquario', thank you!

reminds me of seeing La Fura Del Baus in Barcelona, I love the incidental shots around the performance, they add something mysterious. Great work.
